What is Load Balancing?

Load balancing prevents overloading of the electrical grid when charging multiple vehicles at a single location, such as a car park or garage. It evenly distributes the available power among the active charging stations, taking into account the charging speed, energy consumption and available capacity. This way, overloading is avoided, even when several vehicles are charging simultaneously. The process uses smart algorithms to optimise energy consumption, which is especially useful for irregular charging patterns or frequent charging of multiple cars.

Load balancing is also useful at home! Because even there, the electrical grid can become overloaded. A clear example: if you use the dishwasher, the tumble dryer, the electric cooker and the deep fryer at the same time, and also charge your electric car, the fuse can blow because the electrical grid is overloaded. To prevent this, we use load balancing.
