The CREG rate is the electricity price per kWh used to reimburse home charging sessions. STROOHM uses this rate for the reimbursement of charging sessions.
The CREG (Commission for Electricity and Gas Regulation) supervises the electricity and gas market in Belgium.
How is the rate determined?
The rate is set again every quarter, based on the previous quarter.
There is a national rate and a rate per region (Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia).
It is an all-in price: energy, network costs, levies and surcharges are included.
How is your reimbursement calculated?
Your reimbursement is the CREG rate × the number of kWh you charged at home. If your employer uses the national rate, for example, that rate is multiplied by the number of kWh charged.
The CREG rate is permanently accepted
The FPS Finance has confirmed that the CREG rate is permanently accepted as the standard method for reimbursing employees' home charging. The former end date of 31 December 2025 has been removed. For companies, this means that no additional electricity meters are needed and that the reimbursement is not considered a taxable benefit in kind.
