How quickly is my EV charged?

Here's how to make a rough estimate of your EV's charging time yourself.

How long it takes to charge your EV mainly depends on two things: the capacity of your battery (in kWh) and the power of the charging station (in kW).

Here's how to make a rough estimate: divide the battery capacity by the charging power.

Example: a 50 kWh battery on an 11 kW charging station gives 50 / 11 ≈ 4.5 hours to charge from 0 to 100%.

This is an indication: the actual charging time may differ slightly.

Charging power is usually stated in kW, for example 11 kW or 22 kW. You will also often read about AC or DC charging: this refers to the way the electricity is delivered to your car.
